The man who ate a bicycle

Michel Lotito from Grenoble has been eating glass and metal since 1959. At the age of 8 he practiced ‘sophrology’ (the science of a peaceful mind) a form of self-hypnosis and relaxation which helps him control the pain. At the age of 16 he broke a glass when he was drinking , he helps a piece in his mouth.

I knew that some people had eaten glass and I decided that I could do it.

He then moved on to razer blades, plates and little pieces of metal and he was challenged to eat bigger and bigger objects.

I also have a saliva which is able to melt razer blades in my mouth. My gastric juices are so active that after an edoscopy the doctors saw that they attacked objects with a corrosive foam.

When asked if he can really digest metal he says that he has incredibly strong teeth (estimated at 8 tonnes per centimetre).

Despite his actions, Lotito takes his health seriously and always demands the presence of doctors.

They give me advice such as eating artochokes or parrafin with the metal, but I soon realised that drinking several litres of water works just as well.
