The first iron tools were made from meteorites

For years scientists and historians have been puzzled by mysterious iron artefacts found thousands of years before the Iron Age. Albert Jambon (French Museum of Natural History) discovered that the artefacts were in fact made from meteors.

For decades historians have been puzzled by iron beads dating from 5000 years ago were discovered in Gerzeh with no evidence of smelting or forges (the Iron Age began 3,300 years ago).

Also, a century before the Iron Age an iron dagger, bracelet and headrest were found in the tomb of Tutankhamen.

At first historians thought that perhaps the ancient Egyptians were centuries ahdead of their time but they found no evidence of smelting or forges. Historian Albert Jambon realised that meteorites often contain ready-made iron and discovered that the artefacts were indeed made from meteoric iron-nickel alloys.
