Neanderthals killed and ate bears as big as grizzlies

The bones of the now extinct ‘Cave Bear‘ were often found together with those of neanderthal man in caves across Europe. It is believed that the neanderthals ambushed and killed the bears. They would then steal their caves and eat their meat.

“These cave bears were hunted and butchered by Neanderthals,” says lead author Marco Peresani at the University of Ferrara, Italy.
