The food energy you use in your lifetime is the same as two and a half hours of driving

A man who lives to 80 years old (UK life expectancy) and abides by the recommended daily allowance of 2500 kilocalories a day uses the same amount of food energy in their lifetime as a car does driving for two and half hours at “highway” speeds*

2500 kilocalories (RDA for a man ) x 80 = 836.8 MJ

2.5 hours of driving (30 mpg mileage) = 835 MJ

(MJ = megajoules)

(this is sourced from an american site so I suppose that means driving at about 50mph).
